I’ve been working on some long exposure shots lately, and this is a recent result of thinking about movement in the water and sky as part of the composition. The motivation comes from a new project I’m working on that attempts to bring more of my musical mindset to the images I create. I love lush and very organic sounds, and many times will listen to my iPod while photographing which for me helps with becoming more focused and visually concentrated. As usual, I need to keep experimenting with these ideas, but pushing beyond your comfort zone is the only real way to learn. While I didn’t quite achieve the vision I had in mind for this image, I enjoy the ethereal quality and feel of the scene, something I seem to gravitate to naturally.
