Thanks Dick - I've tried many other products from crampons to snowshoes, but these are my favorites. I own both the microspikes and crampons from Kahtoola and never leave home without them in the winter. As a matter of fact, I accidentally tore my pants leg when I slipped and the tip of the crampon caught the material. I forgot to wear my gaitors that morning, so lesson learned - it could have been my skin!

Thanks as always for the positive feedback. I'll try and write more about some of the gear in the back of my truck!

This is a great post not only because of your images but the info on what your wearing on your feet. I have been looking for something that offers more of a bite and the Kahtoola's look pretty good. I wear some snow cleats but I need something that is more aggressive. Have you tried any other products? I spend quite a bit of time shooting the local lighthouses in the winter and it can be extremely dangerous when there is open water all around. One slip, one mistake on the ice, and I would not be around to comment on your fantastic images. Great shots and info!
