I’m happy to announce that after a long hiatus, the Beyond the Lens Video Podcast is back! It’s been a while since the last episode (almost a year) but I’ve got a bunch of new episodes scheduled for the coming months, so plenty of content coming soon. Lots of developments happening behind the scenes, and you’ll see those over the course of the next few episodes. I’ll have some very rare gear reviews, some interviews with inspiring photographers, and of course some “in the field” footage as I explore the landscape near and far.
In this episode, enjoy a Lightroom 4 tutorial where I process one of my latest images, and talk in-depth about the changes and improvements to the develop module. I’m excited to be doing the podcast again, so please let me know what you think, and of course I’m always open to ideas and suggestions for improving future episodes and tutorials and making them more useful for you. Thanks for watching!

I processed this image entirely in Lightroom 4, and I’m really loving the new tonal controls and soft-proffing. I’m working on a video tutorial of my workflow, and some of the features I like best about this new version- look for it early next week. If you use Lightroom, this update is well worth it.
This photograph is also the “Print of the Month” – read more about it here and watch a short video on the making of a matted print.

I am extremely pleased that one of my images was featured in a full page advertorial by Canson Infinity in the March 2012 edition of PDN magazine. It was a great honor to be selected by Canson and PDN for this article, and of course I bought a copy as soon as it hit the news stands!

The editor sent me a bunch of questions that I answered as best I could, then she edited my responses down to fit the article. It wasn’t as easy as you might think, and it highlights one of the reasons I always advocate learning how to talk about your photography and why you are passionate about what you do. It clarifies your intent and helps with developing a creative vision. These are all topics I discuss often in the workshops, and I plan to write about more here in the near future.
