Summary

Join me for an exciting 5 days of nature and landscape photography in the beautiful and iconic Arches National Park. Experience one of America’s most dramatic national parks, containing over 2000 natural arches. We’ll also visit neighboring Canyonlands National Park, and Dead Horse State Park.

From the first time I visited Arches National Park many years ago, it remains one of the most unique and spiritual places I have ever photographed. There is raw beauty, fantastic natural rock formations, incredible variety of terrain, and light that never fails to inspire. My goal is to inspire your creative spirit, help you gain confidence, improve your vision, and push you to grow as a nature photographer.

What You Will Learn

I will demonstrate my approach to capturing dramatic and expressive images, and help you gain confidence with your composition, technique, and ability to convey your personal vision. The techniques that we’ll work on in the field will be reinforced in the classroom, helping you improve while still on location. We’ll be visiting many locations during the week, which I’ll be selecting based on weather conditions. Classroom sessions is where we’ll spend time learning to develop images in Adobe Lightroom, and viewing slideshows of the day’s images from all students.

Topics Include • Composition • Understanding and using light creatively • Seeing photographically • Camera techniques • Using different tools to achieve your vision • Using graduated neutral density and polarizing filters • Making the most of your camera’s functions • Creative RAW processing

Skill Level

This workshop is designed for serious photographers – beginner to advanced – who want to improve and expand their creative potential. Participants must be in good physical shape and be able to hike with photo gear. If you have a question about your suitability, please contact me for more information. If you want to take your photography to the next level, this 5 day workshop will allow you to work closely with a passionate professional dedicated to help others develop their own personal vision.

Laptop computer with Lightroom 3 is highly recommended.

Lodging

We’ll be headquartered at the Moab Valley Inn in Moab Utah, the center of adventure and the iconic landscapes of the southwest. Moab is a great adventure town with a myriad of dining and shopping options. Lodging and food are not included in the workshop fee, but I have reserved 8 rooms for students. Once you reserve, you’ll receive an email with a direct link to book your room. There will be a complimentary group breakfast and dinner during then workshop.
