The February 2011 Free Desktop Wallpaper is now available for download. Mt Beacon is home for me, and whenever it snows, I climb to the top as often as possible – you never know what you’re going to find. This particular day was special due to a combination of great light, cold conditions, and fresh snow from the night before.

As always, come closer to nature in the Hudson Valley.

    1. @David – Thanks David, yes it is probably my favorite light as well – especially with this kind of subject. I find snow quite difficult to photograph successfully, and of course that means different things to different photographers. For me I want to see in the photo what makes me most excited about – the texture, which also implies how it feels and how it sounds. So many senses to keep track of when we photograph, but again it is part of mastering the language – something every photographer should work at constantly.

    1. @Catharus – thanks for your feedback – really appreciate it. All I can say is I really put a lot of effort into sharing my experiences and knowledge so that others may learn and apply it to their own particular situation. My goal is to continue to grow and learn so that in return I can continue to share. Thanks for your help in keeping me motivated.
