In all my years of printing and teaching printing workshops, the single most important thing…
I had an article published for Shutterbug Magazine titled “Why ICC Profiles Are So Important for Printing” which outlines why I recommend using ICC profiles when making fine art prints.
While you can find varied opinion on this, I always recommend consistency in a printing workflow, so that you can reduce the variables and focus on things that make the most significant difference – the quality of your final image.
After 30+ printing workshops in my studio, I’ve never had an instance where a student’s print didn’t match my monitor. That’s only because I’m ruthlessly consistent and only introduce changes when they either make a positive difference in simplifying the workflow or improving print quality.
This makes complete sense to me! What’s the “varied opinion on this”, as you mention?
You are so right about the ICC Profiles. Thanks for emphasizing that in you Printmaking class.
Will you be doing a new series of Printing workshops?
