Summary

Join me for an exciting 5 days of nature and landscape photography in the beautiful and iconic Acadia National Park. Experience the majestic cliffs that rise sharply above the Atlantic Ocean, as well as pristine lakes and amazing mountain top sunrises. We’ll be visiting classic park locations like Otter Cliffs, Jordan Pond, Eagle Lake, plus many other less visited locations of equal beauty. My goal is to inspire your creative spirit, help you gain confidence, improve your vision, and push you to grow as a nature photographer.

What You Will Experience

I love teaching and working with other photographers – plain and simple. And you’ll see that each day of the workshop. We’ll visit my favorite locations to capture dramatic and expressive images, and we’ll work together to help you gain confidence in your composition, technique, and ability to convey your personal vision. The techniques we cover in the field will be reinforced in the classroom, helping you improve while still on location. We’ll spend time developing images in Lightroom CC Classic, cover many compositional skills, and learn from each other during photo critiques.

Some of What You'll Learn

• Solid foundation of camera technique (lens choices, exposure, filters, etc)
• Composition and visual design
• Understanding and using light creatively
• Using different tools to achieve your vision
• Creative RAW processing in Lightroom CC Classic

Skill Level

This workshop is designed for serious photographers – beginner to advanced – who want to improve and expand their creative potential. Regardless of your experience, this workshop will give you the opportunity to work closely with a passionate professional dedicated to helping you develop your personal vision.

IMPORTANT– This workshop involves some moderate hiking over uneven terrain. You should be comfortable carrying your gear while hiking. Any questions or concerns, please call or email for specific info on the type of hiking we’ll be doing.

Lodging

We’ll be headquartered at the Best Western Acadia Park Inn in Mt Desert Island, which sits right on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The nearby town of Bar Harbor provides various shopping and dining options, a public library, great food, and many photographic opportunities when we’re not out on a shoot.
Lodging and food not included in the workshop fee.

Please call to make your reservation asap, as this is a busy time of year. We have a block of rooms set aside for workshop students – just mention my name.  http://www.acadiaparkinn.com/index.html

Workshop starts Monday morning September 11th and ends Friday morning Sep  15th after our last sunrise shoot, so plan on getting to Mt Desert Is on or before Sunday, Sep 10th.

This was an outstanding workshop. Robert was not only personable and knowledgeable but was also a fantastic teacher. Very early in the workshop he identified areas that I needed help with and continued to focus on throughout the course. I can go on and about how good the course was, one can only experience it by doing it. Highly recommended without reservation.

  2. Gene Gibbons

Outstanding workshop! Robert Rodriguez Jr is as gifted a teacher as he is a photographer. He helped me raise my photography to a whole new skill level. I felt I got much more than my money’s worth.

  3. Guillermo Cardozo

I had high expectations that were all exceeded.

FIrst, the location just promised to be gorgeous. And from Robert’s books and work which I carefully reviewed pointed that the time and money investment were going to be worth the effort. It was not only worth it, but it turned out to be one amazing personal experience.

Robert is just 100% dedicated to make the learning experience effective for each student. Taking the time make sure each student is in the right path for getting our photography skills in a continuous improvement in the long term. We received strong foundation concepts and practical tips on visual design and composition for landscape photography. Throughout the 5 day workshop we received permanent guidance to experiment what we were learning.

It’s not easy that a 5 day workshop runs smooth if you have not planned all the details. Robert is so meticulous with shooting locations, commutes, times and even meal arrangements that it’s the experience is just amazing.

This is a unique opportunity that I’m just thankful I was able to be part of. Thank you to Robert for his dedication to us and to our great group of fellow students that made this experience memorable.

  4. Ed Sanford

This was an outstanding workshop. Logistically everything was well-organized and efficient, and there could no be a better location for this learning opportunity. This session gave me the opportunity to work on my ability to “see” and organize the elements of an image in a manner that enhances my creativity. It had the right mix of field, classroom and one on one instruction. Robert is a passionate photographer and a great teacher. I would urge any photographer to take this workshop. No matter how good your skills may be, you will leave this session with another set of creative tools that will improve your work.

  5. Peter Block

Five stars does not adequately describe my workshop experience. The location was amazing with a variety of subjects; the timing was perfect – we hit the peak of fall foliage; and the weather helped us at every opportunity. Robert knew where and when to go within the Acadia park.

Robert is clearly dedicated to helping his students. He is knowledgeable on a variety of subjects, beyond cameras and music. He is willing and able to assist you in the field as well as in the classroom sessions. His sense of timing is great. When I needed advice or suggestions, he was just around the corner.

The Acadia workshop was one of the best I have attended. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to improve their landscape photography skills. If you are unsure about signing up, take a look at some of Robert’s videos that are available online.

  6. James Johnston

This is my second workshop with Robert and first in the field. Robert is an excellent instructor and inspiration to photographers at all levels and Acadia is just the location to get those creative juices flowing. I can not recommend this workshop high enough to those at all levels hoping to improve their skills and hone their vision in the field. The group was just the right size to allow for one-on-one help and group growth. I will be going on future workshops with Robert without a doubt.
